Closing in on the next stretch goal!

Yesterday was a great day making it to the funding goal. Now we are closing in on the first real stretch goal. When we make it to $11K in total pledges, everyone that pledges $100 or more will receive one our model painting racks. If you game an paint models it can be a little frustrating holding on them while painting so you attache them to old paint pots or sticks to give yourself a handle. The problem is even with this add-on they can still be a little unstable and tippy. This rack was designed to eliminate that by giving you a secure tray to hold the figures while they are drying. No more knocked over or smudged models while painting.
So if you haven't gotten in and pledge on the project yet what are you waiting for? Come join us and take your game up a level with the Skyway Project.

Next up we have more preview pictures of the alternate apartment modules. There will be a total of 5 different styles:
  • Standard living quarters
  • Large window office
  • Research Center
  • Storage unit
  • Security Bunker
  • We will do a feature on each unit as the final textures are decided so you can get a good look at them all side by side.

WIP - Metaverse Towers

We are getting close to releasing this new set of terrain to help finish out the scifi terrain set. This is a stackable building set. Each level is a complete kit with 3 different wall designs and 2 different styles of doors. The kits can be stack together to create taller buildings and in future sets there are options to tie the units together to create an entire city. Stay tuned.

WIP - Scifi Apartment Module

Just completed the first test cuts on the apartment module and other than some minor tweaks things are right on schedule. The module is designed to stack in the tower or to stack alone using magnets. Scale is matched to the GW terrain sets so it is a bit oversized. This works well though for placement as it keeps you from bumping pieces when you move miniatures.

The window acrylic are just an example and I think I am going to leave them out of the final package for cost reasons. This will open a few more possibilities for users since they can chose the window color to match their table.

There is still more work on this one. I need to decide on some additional textures for parts to dress things up a bit. I also need to increase the parts density to get the cut time down a bit. The faster the cut the lower the price. So what do you think. Is this a step in the right direction? Are there things that need to change? What would you like to see?

Holiday Thank you and new designs

First I would like to say Thank you all for supporting us this year. It have been quite a ride and we are doing everything we can to keep it going strong. Thank you for your support. Your support drives me to come up with new ideas and new designs. Thank You, Thank You, THANK YOU!!!

So what is next, well we are starting a new set of sci-fi terrain and the first prototypes go into production tonight. The design show here is a modular apartment system. The idea is to have the apartment blocks removable from the tower so they can be used as individual items or added to the main tower for stacking. The tower unit pictured is for 3 units but it can be expanded to more pretty easily. The pods will be available separately and the tower will include all sorts of street items like sign poles and benches to create an entire scene.

New prototype - Lego Minifig Display Case

I got a request from a friend that for a display case for his Lego Minifig collection. After talking with him a little more about it and doing a bit of research I started work on one. The first thing I discovered was the case would be really small. Each set is 16 figures and they are only 1.5 inches tall. This makes the case roughly 4 inches tall and 8 inches wide. This left allot of room to play with in the design. I decided to go with a 3 sided acrylic design on a wood back plate. The top, shelves and bottoms are all clear. This allows light to flood through the case making the models easier to see. It also has the added benefit of easily adding LED lighting to the case without it interfering with normal viewing.

This is still a prototype and the design will change a little. One thing I want to try with is making the cases stack-able. I am also thinking on scaling it up a little to fit standard gaming minis. Also I am thinking on a 4 level unit. For now here is the prototype. Tell me what you think?
