Desktop Lanterns

Sometimes you just have to do a project for the love of it. These lanterns are that for us. Rather than do only the traditional version we decided to mix things up. So besides the traditional scroll-work and abstract designs we are offering a few geek specific models. Currently we have Mystery Science Theater 3000, Pac-Man and Dr. Who themed designs with more being added daily. If there is something you are interested in see let us know. The lanterns are done is several different sizes and the patterns can be adapted to each size. We also offer custom designs as shown with the one we did for The Screaming Heretics podcast.

The kit are all made from Baltic birch plywood allowing you to either paint or stain them to get the color you want. The final piece to finishing the kits is the insert material. The traditional option is parchment or wax paper but we also offer frosted and clear acrylics in various colors. With about 20 different options we should be able to find a color that suits your needs.

When ordering you will need to select the size, pattern or theme and if you want acrylic inserts. Units shown below are shown as pricing examples. Contact us directly for updated pricing. BurnInDesigns@gmail.com

WIP - TMAWH Scifi Habitat Unit

This is the second update for the scifi apartment complex and it is about 95% ready. I just need to set the final list of items that will be included in the kit. Shown here are the tower and the engraved habitat blocks. The tower is designed to hold 3 units with the lower garage space or 4 if you remove the garage. Right now the kit includes extra railing and streetlights to help flesh out the building. Overall height is 13.5" so it is not a small piece of terrain. There is more to come so stay close by. The set will be live sooner than you think.

WIP - Scifi Apartment Module

Just completed the first test cuts on the apartment module and other than some minor tweaks things are right on schedule. The module is designed to stack in the tower or to stack alone using magnets. Scale is matched to the GW terrain sets so it is a bit oversized. This works well though for placement as it keeps you from bumping pieces when you move miniatures.

The window acrylic are just an example and I think I am going to leave them out of the final package for cost reasons. This will open a few more possibilities for users since they can chose the window color to match their table.

There is still more work on this one. I need to decide on some additional textures for parts to dress things up a bit. I also need to increase the parts density to get the cut time down a bit. The faster the cut the lower the price. So what do you think. Is this a step in the right direction? Are there things that need to change? What would you like to see?

Holiday Thank you and new designs

First I would like to say Thank you all for supporting us this year. It have been quite a ride and we are doing everything we can to keep it going strong. Thank you for your support. Your support drives me to come up with new ideas and new designs. Thank You, Thank You, THANK YOU!!!

So what is next, well we are starting a new set of sci-fi terrain and the first prototypes go into production tonight. The design show here is a modular apartment system. The idea is to have the apartment blocks removable from the tower so they can be used as individual items or added to the main tower for stacking. The tower unit pictured is for 3 units but it can be expanded to more pretty easily. The pods will be available separately and the tower will include all sorts of street items like sign poles and benches to create an entire scene.
